does anyone know what the average price would be for a 89 m3 that is pretty much stock?

mileage, condition, maintenance history, engine condition.

The rule of thumb is that an E30 M3 will cost you at least $15K. If the car costs less, you will make up the difference in getting things right.

and weighing all that in, it would likely be $8k - $25k though there are exceptions on both ends
