New Car Navigation Pixel's Broken already!
just got new 05' 330ci ZHP fully loaded..and the Navigation screen already has 1 broken pixel...obviously the car is under warranty, but what will BMW if i call and complain...will they replace the whole nav system because of 1 broken pixel..please help what should i do about it? TIA

Hopefully you'll get it replaced under warranty, but don't get your hopes up. One pixel usually doesn't qualify for a replacement. Mine also has a pixel or three dead and given the circumstances, it wasn't worth it to even try to ask for a fix for something so small to me. Dead pixels might possibly bug me on the computer since I stare at that more than the NAV screen though.

Personally I am very meticulous, and thus easily annoyed by what-others-might-call "insignificant blemishes." If I was in a similiar situation, I can guarantee that I would have it replaced under warranty no matter what there so-called policy is.

If it’s noticeable then I would think you could get it replaced by the dealer. If the first one you go to says no go to another. Then start complaining to BMW NA if none of them will fix it. The dealership gets paid by BMW to repair an item under warranty so as long as BMW NA doesn’t disallow a certain repair the dealer should be more than happy to replace a defective item.
While your at it if you have the FM fade in fade out stereo problem get them to fix that as well.

Most LCD screen manufacturers have a replacement policy after a certain amount of pixels go. I believe some have a 5 bad pixel policy, some have 10, and some will replace a screen after 1 bad pixel. a quick google search found Samsung has a 1 policy as do Nintendo when referring to the DS game system.
Realistically some will go though. It's the nature of the beast. |

I'd be curious to know what BMW's policy is on just one pixel. A friend of mine bought a top of the line Apple PowerBook several years ago, and it arrived with three dead pixels on the screen. He was told by Apple that the threshold that defines a defect to replace the screen was four pixels or more. That would have infuriated me.
