April Delivery for 330i only?

My sales guy called today letting me know that I could place an order (not knowing prices) for a 330i today that would be delivered in April. He only had one production number to give away for that month and was offering it to me.

Since I want a 325i I said no, and he said that 325i deliveries will start after the 330i.

Anyone else have similar stories?


(note: also obviously I would not order without knowing the prices)

Dealer in Jacksonville told me the same thing. I figure they're blowing smoke up my @$$ as usual. However, I wouldn't be too surprised if BMW ran the 330s first and we get 325s by late summer.

It makes sense from a marketing perspective. Get the bad boy on the street first..sell the more expensive and more profitable model to all those that "gotta have it first"...get the buzz going about how great the car is (with the bigger engine) and then sell the more affordable 325 to the mouthwatering masses.

Yes. Other markets get the 320d, 320i and 330i first. The 325i won't launch until some time in the summer, according to BMW GB at any rate.

I think it's more to do with engine availability. The 320d and 320i are launching simultaneously. As it happens, the US only gets two models anyway, so it's more by luck that a lower-end model is not yet available.

I have a 325i with accepted order status for March Production. Have not heard anything about a delay (yet!)

I've placed two order for customers for the E90. Both 325s, both April (14th week) production.

Based on everything I've heard, this probably means that your dealer has used up his allocation of 325s until the summertime.

Philippek, can I ask by "placed an order" you mean that you have production numbers for these cars? I am not so concerned about delivery date, more that if I make an order, I get a production number soon after.

My current lease continuing is dependant on me getting a production number before April 20th, and then will continue until the new car arrives. So if I make an order next week, how long does it take to get a production number??

If you want to get technical, these cars are in "47" status, which means that the cars have been spec'd out and the order request has been accepted, but there is no production number as of yet. It does, however, show that production is estimated for April, during the 14th week of the year.

I would guess that I'll get PNs by late February, and the cars will actually arrive in early May.

I'm sure that your local dealer could do the same...can't imagine why he won't take your order now. I actually took the first order back in December, and the agreement was simply to get him the first available 325i production slot, and that he would pay MSRP.

I have a production number for my 330...can I tell from that when build & delivery will be? I'm on the left coast, so maybe I'll get it later than the US East Coast.

Are you in Nor. Cal or South Cal?? I put down a deposit with my dealer in December, but they told me that I won't be able to order my car until end of Feb or earily March. Hate waiting Anyone has any idea?

I'm in the Bay Area. And, last I heard the salesman that I ordered from had three or four more order slots available (this was a few weeks ago). He's one of the top guys in the US so he gets some priority.

Suggest you send me a private message with your email and I'll email you his contact info and copy him. I don't want to post his name in an open forum without his permission.

Does anyone know when we will be able to do a euro delivery on a 325i? The reduction would take care of the price increase.

Why 3-4% more (about $1,200 based on the above MSRP)? The UK prices went up about $100 USD.

4% is actually still under $32,000, but I'm guessing that BMW will add a little for inflation and a little to help them with the rise in the euro. But like I said, just my guess. I'm dying to see some solid numbers so I can friggin order one of these things.....
