I just replaced the pump on my 97 528. the pump is located in the passenger front wheel well toward the passsenger compartment. it is behind the black plastic shield.

as dpjn says, depending on whether your car is right or left hand drive, it's up behind the right front wheel. Mines a RHD, so it's the driver side.
Remove the wheel, remove the wheel arch liner (about 10 bolts) and its there in front of you. The pump just gets disconnected from the wire and pull it out of the reservoir. Make sure you get one from BMW that is matched to your car's chassis number. They changed the design sometime mid 1997 and they are not compatible. |
