A question about E46 auxiliary audio inputs

Hi, I have a 2001 325i and I'd like to install the BMW Business CD auxiliary input so that I can use my iPod, but every installation guide that I've found says that I need a 2002 or newer to do the modification? Can anyone explain what was changed between 2001 and 2002 that would allow me to add an aux input? Is there anything I can do to still get an aux input (besides a new head unit?)?

I believe that the 2002 and later has an aux input jack on the back of the head unit. It's been discussed many times over within the forum. Should probably use the search function to find what you are looking for.

I'd like to see photos of the differences between the back of a '01 and '02 if anyone has it available.

If you have an older model then 2002 you can get a blitzsafe at

I did this and it only took about an hour to remove the back seats and center colsole to run the RCA / Mini cable.
