Cool OEM Subwoofer for X5

BMW X5 4.6is 2002

Hi
I have the 10 speaker system but no subwoofer. I have checked the driver side rear and found a spare wireing harness.

Question: If I were to purchase an OEM Subwoofer, is it a question of just plug and play or is there more to it.

Please help

That wiring harness you found on the drivers side is for the optional CD Changer I believe. The subs are on the passenger side.

I'm pretty sure that the DSP sound system was standard on the 4.6is. It sounds to me like a previous owner removed the sub. As long as they didn't cut the wiring harness, it should be plug-n-play to reinstall it (it goes in the passenger side rear compartment).

These pop up on eBay now and then - would be a lot cheaper than buying a new one from the dealer.

Sorry my car is a right hand drive.

Unfortunatley the dsp was not standard on the 2002 model. One would have to upgrade to the 12 speaker professional package. Mine is the 10 speaker package.

Thanks

In that case, no, installing the factory sub is not a plug-n-play install.
