Unhappy e36 engine swaps

been driving my e36 316i for a year already. Everythings fine except that its about as interesting as driving a wheelbarrow! Seriously considering an engine swap. has anybody done a swap from to the 140 hp m42 or m44 engines? how much work is involved and where can i get one!...help!

definitely go with the m44, everything should bolt up but get the matching tranny and you will need a wiring harness and ECU, good luck

swap.

Going from a 1.6 to a 1.8 (or 1.9)? Any chance you'd consider going up to the bigger and more powerful inline 6's like a 2.5L or 2.8L? I know you may have to consider doing suspension upgrades since they're heavier, but for the fun factor - -why not?

IIRC, Singapore will tax you for the displacement increase.
