Can you install a 2003 model year headunit in a 2000 model year E39?
Is it a plug and play swap or are the wiring harnesses different?
I'm considering an older E39 and would love to know that I could swap in the Sirius (XM Direct) ready 2003 headunit. Oh, and the in-dash CD would be nice too. A. Is it doable? B. What am I looking at cost-wise? BTW, I really did spend a bunch of time using Search looking to see if this has been asked (I feel like *someone* has to have asked it before) but came up empty. So forgive me if this is a repost. If it is, though, please direct me to the thread where it's been discussed because I couldn't find it. |

Technically the E39's don't have a head unit they have a MID. If you search for "sirrus" on the *cough* other forum (the E39 forum is very active) there are lots of threads. Good luck.
