Never hit it... not necessary...

Never done it in the BMW. Define over-rev? I've over-rev a few cars back in the day before rev-limiters, and the result was usually expensive.

i would assume over-revving by misshifting would mean putting your car into a gear that is not suitable for your speed, including 2nd gear on the freeway, or 1st gear going say 40 mph, pretty much any gear in which your car will say "ouch, thats not the right gear, assmunch" maybe im wrong i dunno
