E82 / E87 / E88 / F20 1 Series (2008 - 2014)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by a naturaly aspirated inline 6 in the 128 or the turbo twin power inline 6 rocket sled 135.

Half shaded CHECK ENGINE LIGHT 120i

Hi folks, I have a half shaded yellow Check engine light coming on my 2004 BMW 120i.
I have topped the engine oil, Closed the fuel cap tightly and checked the engine settings and its indicating OK. What could be the fault. There is a CC-ID29 code when I press the BC button. Please help!!

I think CC-ID29 is just a generic code which tells you nothing.

In fact, my 2008 135i with N54 engine has the same thing. Half shaded orange engine light at the center of dash. Went to the dealer and they said it's one of the VANOS solenoid. I think somehow it's stuck and triggers the light. When I turned off the engine and then turned on again, it was gone. So I assume it doesn't happen all the time, but it happens when I'm very unlucky - sort of.
Also N54 is notorious for sticky VANOS solenoids and I'm not so sure about your engine.

Anyways, my point is that you need to read the code and diagnose the problem properly.

I am going with your answer. I am going to replace the Variable Timing Solenoid. it sounds exactly what happens to me
