window regulator going bad?
how would i know? my driver side window seems to make a crunching/cracking/creeking sound when raising... is that a sign? i rolled it down and slamed the door but i don't hear anything ajar inside the door..

Yep bad regulator.
Make a service apointment and don't roll down the window... it might bite the dust when down.

Same happened to me this weekend: crunching sound when rolling passenger window up/down.

It happened to me today

This happened to me today. I was rolling down all the windows, then a crack\crunch sound came from the right rear passenger window. It stopped half way. and I could not get it to roll up or down anymore. I could hear the gears, but no luck. So, I started to pull up the window while my friend pressed the window button up, and I was able to close the gap to about 1 inch from the top of the door frame. Pissed me off because it actually scratched the glass at a point so bad, it chipped the glass, and ruined my tint job.  I am going through the recalls, and I can't find anything on it. I has all 4 go bad on my 2001 325i. All repaired under warrenty. My service advisor said it was very common but there was no service recalls for them. Good luck
