F22 / F23 2 Series (2014 - Current)
The 2 Series coupe is the replacement for the E82/E88 1 series coupe. Production starts in November 2013 on the 228i (N20) and M235i (N55) coupes. Look for them in dealerships in February 2014. The convertible F23 2 series will follow in the fall of 2014.

new bi-LED headlight versus full LED on the 2018 model

Hello All,

About to pull the trigger on a 2018 230i and looking for some input from users please.

I am going back and forth about the headlight choice and if i should pay the extra for the adaptive lights. Part of me says, it is more stuff that will break down the road but i have focused more on the brightness/usefulness new bi-LED headlight versus adaptive full-LED setup.

for reference, my 330CI has Xenons. Sure it is step up..the question is if i want to fork out any more $.

Thank you.

Get the adaptive headlamps (552). According to IIHS' headlamp performance evaluations, the adaptive LED headlamps perform much better than the standard non-adaptive LED headlamps on the F30 and G30:
  • 2017 BMW G30 with adaptive LED headlamps: Good
  • 2017 BMW G30 with non-adaptive bi LED headlamps: Marginal
  • 2017 BMW F30 with adaptive LED headlamps: Acceptable
  • 2017 BMW F30 with non-adaptive LED headlamps: Poor

IIHS hasn't yet tested the LCI F22/F23, but it's likely this pattern will hold. On the pre-LCI F22/F33, the HID headlamps rated good with or without automatic high beams; the halogen headlamps rated poor.
