Leather on the door card

I have a new M240i with the coral red leather. Is the “leather” on the door card leather or vinyl?

It’s simply the finished interior door panel.

Nice interior color! I believe the coral red insert in your door panel is leather. On my M240i with oyster leather, the oyster insert in my doors is leather. The rest of the door panel is not leather.

Interesting...I see OP is in the US, so not a foreign term, but never heard that one in the industry for the door trim panel. In any event, leather is at most the insert, as it is on the seats within the bolsters, surrounded by vinyl.

Thanks, I like it. It provides a nice contrast with the black. What are you using on the vinyl? I used a 50/50 mix of water and Vinylex on my E46.

I'm pretty fussy about keeping my car clean so I have not had to do much with the vinyl other than wipe it down with a microfiber cloth. I detailed the car and used a bit of the quick detailer on the vinyl, that worked very well. I've used Pro Honda Spray Cleaner and Polish for the last 15 years on all my vehicles with great success.

BMW leather has a urethane coating for durability so I'm not sure leather conditioners are effective or can even penetrate.

I bit the bullet and bought the leather care kit at the dealer. I’ll give that a try.

I have used Lexol Cleaner and Lexol Conditioner on my leather and have seen a noticeable improvement in its appearance. The Oyster leather gets dirty very quickly but since giving it a thorough cleaning and conditioning, it looks a lot better.
