V1 vs Escort
I just got my first speeding ticket in over 20 years. I guess I should change my name from Ghost Runner to Outlaw. It really hurt because I am a former Deputy Sheriff.
Which Radar Detector is recommended. A Friend of mine says the latest Escort is the best but I don't like things stuck to my windshield. What is the consensus?? Any personal experiences?? |

V-1
Get the V-1, you will never leave home without it. Call Valentine and ask to buy a B stock unit and save 10%. You can't tell from new.

I bought an Escort 8500 a month ago and I am pretty happy with it. Have been cruising in the city freeways at 95-100 and it is pretty good at spotting a cop. I bought my 330i last Friday from Fort Collins and drove it to Salt Lake City.
4 times the Escort saved my ass. I averaged about 80 MPH. I was doing 100-110 on I-40 and the passport did not fail me. Both of them are pretty good. V1 looks ugly and the passport is pretty slick. V1 has the remote control unit that can be mounted on the dash. I have my passport hard wired so I don't have an ugly wire from my cigarette lighter. |

$600 and you're set (plus shipping):
$400 for the V1 $200 for Stealth One An hour of your time and you'll have something like this V1 > escort 24/7 have a nice day!

Easy answer V1
Actually I thought this issue was settled a long time ago? I have three V1's on three of my four cars. I don't have one in my 1991 Ford Ranger because it is my Home Depot truck.
Yes, they are more expensive, yes they do work better, yes they are more reliable, etc. For example, if you have an old one it can be upgraded, they are not throw away components like many modern electroic gadgets. At least thats my $0.02 worth
