340xi driven, Info. needed

Edited:
Hello forum! My wife and I may finally buy a BMW. We drove a white 2018 340xi today with the coral interior and M appearance package. We need to drive it for more than a few blocks in traffic, but like it. The added height makes entry and exit easier than the 2002 Mercedes-Benz C230K we have enjoyed for 15 years. We do not want the probably punishing ride on lousy southern California roads of the full M sport package. Do you have one of these? What good, bad, or just interesting things do you know about this model?

Try it on the highway at speed and see if you like the suspension. It is quite soft and some people think it's bouncy.

Otherwise, it should be quite an upgrade over your C230K.

Get the adaptive suspension. It is just $700 but makes a big difference. Luckily for 2018 MY almost all 340 xDrive cars coming with the adaptive suspension.

Sorry, just noticed that the original poster is from California. This changes everything. Get a RWD model. They sit lower and look so much better. It still makes sense to get the adaptive suspension but it is not a must have for a RWD car.

I was just on the BMW web site and do not adaptive suspension as an option or part of a package.

The car we drove had the following options:
M Sport ZMP; Driving assistance ZDA; Premium ZPP; Executive ZPX; M Sport 337; heated steering wheel 48; Park distance control 508; and Apple car Play 6CP.

I noticed it is missing the active cruise control, and would not buy one without that feature.

BMW WEB site has became a mess recently. Many options are missing. Ignore it. There is the ordering guide on this site and it is 100% correct.
You can also verify the options a car has on BMWVIN.COM. You will need a VIN number of the car you consider.

BTW, by just looking at the list of options above I can guess that this car does have the adaptive suspension. No guarantee though.
So either check the options using BMWVIN or ask your sales person to send you a copy of the windows sticker.
On the sticker AS appears as a second line in M Sport pack details.

If the car you drove is on the dealer's website, copy the last 7 of the VIN and plug it into one of the online vin decoders. You'll then be able to see if it has the adaptive suspension or not. I will 2nd the notion that if you do not need awd, pass on on the xi. Perhaps reach out to one of the board sponsors here to see what they may have on the lot. Seeing that you kept your C-class for so long, best bet would be to order a car exactly as you want it.

One more thing -- keep in mind this car is being redesigned for MY2019, so MY2018 is the last year for this body style. This may be good or bad depending on what you value more. The kinks are all pretty much worked out at this time.

BMW is offering some pretty generous incentives so keep that in mind as you negotiate the price.

We just did an ED on a 2018 xDrive 340. we optioned it out as much as we could, we drove it around Europe for 16 days and loved it. The ride is fantastic, power is always there but the car is civilized as well. I never remember wishing the car had a better ride. We drove through Austria and Germany on all kinds of mountain passes and twisty roads. as well as the autobahn, really could not find fault with the car. It is a fantastic drivers car. I doubt you will be disappointed in your purchase.
