Speedometer Stuck!

This is the latest malfunction I have experienced with the 5 month old new car. The speedometer is stuck while I was driving and it’s now superglued to this speed. Everything else seems to be ok, no errors. How can this happen?!?!?

The gauge is broken; new instrument panel needed (or gauge.)
There are no mechanical parts at fault, only the electrical needle's drive (like a speaker.)

Thanks Floy. The dealer told me they will order and replace a new instrument panel but haven't told me how many days till the part arrives.

2 days after the speedometer is stuck, it returned from the dead and seems to be working properly... This is crazy

Most Bimmers have built in ‘self test’ function to verify functionality of instrument cluster- should be simple for any owner to do-no special tools needed, Google that.

When the speedometer was stuck, I tried the self test function a couple of times. Everything moved except the speedometer. But when the speedometer came alive, I did the self test again and this time, the speedometer also moved and seems normal.

Very odd behavior but does appear the fault lies in the cluster-New one should remedy that.
