Just got X5 3.0 Diesel over the weekend
Wow, this thing is truly awesome. I am just amazed by the torque! Oh and fuel consumption is the best I have seen on an SUV!!! Love this baby!
There is an issue, though! On the automatic transmission, when I change from D to R or P, I hear a metallic crackling sound that lasts a second or two! Anybody know what this could be? Last edited by prism; 05-15-2005 at 10:27 PM. |

I have a 2005 3.0D Sport with the 6-speed auto and there is absolutely no noise when changing between any forward or reverse gear, or when using M or S modes for any of the forward speed shifts.
Sounds to me like a trip to the dealer is needed. There is a prevention system that stops inadvertant shifts between forward and reverse above 20mph or 30km/h but that just puts you into neutral. I take it you are stationary or nearly so? |
