No, many E46 325's were built in SA and sold in the U.S. E90 production has not started in SA yet but it will soon. In September I believe. I don't know if it will continue to be only 325's but either way, they'll be in the U.S. sooner or later most likely.

Just wonder what is the starting alpha of VIN if it is built in South Africa?

Automatic locking after vehicle is in motion
Selective central unlocking
Climiate control settings memory

He could have these things done in about 1 hour.
I just spoke with my dealer at Beverly Hills BMW. They said that there is no software upgrade. What gives?

I am in Singapore on a business trip, and at the BMW dealer here, I saw a right-hand drive E90 330i with "N" in the 11th digit of the VIN. I believe this means SA production. The VIN plate simply said "Made by BMW" but didn't indicate where.

On US E90's, the VIN sticker says "Made in Germany" if it was; I haven't seen an SA E90 in the US.

BTW, this 330i cost US$125K (S$209K) with tax (COE, it's called here. It's a license to own a car in crowded Singapore). It had iDrive and I think the Sport package (a lot of what is in the US Sport package looks like separate options here.

I was really, really excited to see it, because it's in exactly the color combo (silver, black, aluminum) that I have on order for ED next month.

I was talking to a Singaporean guy who was sitting in the car with me, and he said, "This car is a young man's dream." I agree, though I am not a young man it still feels like a dream coming true.
