Custom Plates

I will be taking delivery of my new e90 tomorrow it seems, and I was wondering about custom plates getting made in NJ. My dealership is telling me that I have to get it done on my own and that they cannot do it... is this true (those that have experience in this)?

I want to get my dog's name on my plate

You have to go to your local DMV to get this done.

re-use custom plates in NJ

I have a related question ---- for someon in NJ who can help.

I had custom plates made several years ago and when I got rid of the car, I kept the plates. I have not used the plates in a couple of years.

When I pick up a new car at a BMW dealership (ED re-dilivery of course) can I tell them to use these plates?
