Angry Replacement parts

Does anyone out there know if there's a problem in the supply chain of X3 replacement parts, particularly with regards to rebuilds? Here's the problem, some clown ran into my wife's '04 X3 waaay back on May 15th and the guy at the body shop is STILL waiting for parts necessary to complete the job. Any thoughts?

Most of the time the body shops blame the parts departments for their problems. The body shop is either behind schedule or waiting for an adjuster. Another potential issue is lack of comunication with the dealerships parts departments. This is where most delays occur as the wrong parts are ordered and time is wasted finding the correct ones.

At my dealership unless the part is on backorder the longest I've had to wait for an item is 3 days. They are always helpful to me and have an 800 number if you wanted to call them. 800-883-0005 to find out if something is on backorder.

I have found it really pays to research your body shop before your car goes in. In spite of what the Police say you do have a choice and do not have to go where the tow truck guy takes your car for his bonus.

Thanks, I appreciate the info. My wife is certain that the body shop, which has been very reliable in the past, has somehow screwed this up in some way. The jury is still out until I get further info. Thanks again.

It's the body shop. Some A-hole rear ended me while leaving the dealership one week after purchase. My bodyshop had no problems with parts...and this was last May 04. Then another a-hole hit my passenger side and same as before...no problems. Then again, the body shop i used only work on high-end autos....M-Benz, BMW, Porsche, etc.

Most of the time when an item is on back order, it's usually stuff like Headrest, or a particular trim (things that will sit on the shelf). Major parts shouldn't be a problem for a bodyshop to get.
