X3 Trailer Light Problems

Has anyone had a problem with the lights working on the trailer after the installation of the BMW Towing Package?
I recently installed my own hitch and wiring and even now BMW doesn't know why my tail lights are on all the time when the car is running and the lights are off or the lights come on when a door is opened. Please share any information on this if at all possible.

You didn't mention what brand the hitch kit was that you installed.

The Towing Package installed is a BMW Hitch with wiring harness and light module. This is an OEM parts package. If you have had any experience with any problems please advise.

It turns out after having the dealer work on the problem they called in the calvary and BMW Tech came to dealership. He could not find the problem either and then remembered that part of the Headlight switch can either be for Europe or USA, and found out the European part was installed. After putting correct part on switch all is well.

My dealer treated me great. I live 3 1/2 hours from their doors and they sent up a new loaner X3 until mine was fixed and then returned it. The total cost to me $0.00. This is why I have a BMW. If it was any other car and the distance the same I don't know if I would have gotten the same service. The Dealership is Enterprise Motor Cars in Appleton Wisconsin.

I am very happy.
