Exclamation No "Dealing" From My Dealership

I am trying to do a reality check on price negotiation. My local dealer is fairly inflexible in their willingness to negotiate purchase price (nice way of putting it). I acquired my 528 from swapalease.com, so I didn't have to negotiate with the dealership. Could someone please check my numbers and provide some feedback / reality check for me?

I am trying to work the following two deals:

1) - For my mother - '06 525 with options lists for $47,915. Is $46,000 reasonable? Sales guy is telling me that they are selling at MSRP, so he is pushing back.

Also, what is a reasonable amount to offer over Eurpoean invoice for an '06 if we choose to go the ED route? $1,000? $2,000?

2) FOR ME!!! - '05 545 with options lists for $64,740. What is reasonable over US invoice for the '05 model. I think i would actually prefer ED for my car, so I am going to shoot for $1,000 over ED envoice. Is this reasonable?

Also, We both have trades. What level of flexibility should i expect to see form the dealer if we go the ED route? Is it reasonable to expect to get to "trade-in vlaue" according to NADA or KBB?

Sorry for all the questions, but this dealership is frustrating me. I may just need to go to Chicago or Cincinnati for a better experience.

Thanks in advance for the replies!

I'm not very up on what '06 525is are going for but I kinda doubt it is MSRP. I would shoot for at least 1k (maybe 2k?) lower but like I said, I don't really know.

I paid $1500 over Euro invoice for my ED '05 545i. I think 1-2k over euro invoice is something to shoot for. Post in the European Delivery forum and ask for the Ohio dealer who is very good with ED. BMW is offering KILLER lease deals on '05 545is...dunno if you can still do a ED of one...maybe...better hurry.

Dunno about trade-in...I would sell private. The better money is worth the hassle.

Anywhere between $1000 to $2000 over ED invoice is what most here have negotiated. Now on a 06 545i you should be able to negotiate as above, I would think on the new 3series it may be harder to get $1xxx over invoice since it is a new style but others can comment. I would stay away from trading in and doing it on your own. That is where they can you and make up the loss from the new purchase.

On Edmunds.com, prices paid forum, people are getting '06 525 for under MSRP. I did mine ED and would recommend that route if your mother is up for the trip.

good luck.

Do a web search on the "Rizzo Method" for car buying. It's easy and will save you money. I used it on my ED 545 and it worked. It is also posted here:http://www.bimmerfest.com/faq/rizzo.html

Carsdirect.com

For Los Angeles zips at least, Carsdirect.com is listing base 06 525 for 41,097, which is 1,398 off MSRP of 42,495 or about 3.3% under MSRP. Invoice is 38,220 + 695 dest. With options you'll get even more off MSRP. Easy no-haggle way of getting a discount IMHO (i'm sure you can get more - but 06 models are not exactly clogging up the dealer lots).

There will only be a 550 MY 06, and since it's a new engine, the demand might be a bit higher so you probably will pay close to MSRP. Don't think you can custom order a 545 05 anymore (you might be able to get a good deal if they have them still on the lot)
