Bad Caliper
Recently had the dreaded steering wheel vibration. Took it to my local dealer and not only did he want to replace my thrust arm bushings, he also said that my front rotor was hanging up. Repair estimate for everything $1500.
After looking at my Bently Manual I did go ahead and have the bushings replaced-whalaa no more vibration. Now I am wondering about the caliper. Has anyone had a bad caliper. I have 62,000 miles on the car. The part is not available after market. It is a $400 part new $90 rebuilt. The agency of course said that new rotors and brakes would also be needed. Brakes and rotors replaced 10,000 miles ago by yours truly. Any thoughts, my brother the Lexus owner is laughing at me again. planner1976 |

I like to reseal the calipers every 50 to 60 thousand miles. Brake fluid is hygroscopic and I don't like to take chances. Oh, and tell your brother to stop using his wifes car.
