I use to live in Evanston, IL couple years back and really felt that my bimmer was to some point quite a standout. Ever since I moved here to the bay area, (I live where all the damn dotcoms are) I have totally felt blended in with my E46. It just so seems that E46's are the norm car around here cuz they are freaking everywhere. Still love my car though.

In Munich, I see them quite a bit. In New York, not as prevalent as Munich but probably a few dozen per day.

I live in Bellevue as well - I work indirectly for a large local computer company and I sometimes have to identify my car via the License Plate, when I come out to the parking lot. Or I see that the guy/gal at the stoplight next to me is in the same exact car.

It's kinda funny.

It was pretty much the same thing when I had an Audi, but not to this extent.

When I lived in the NYC - Philly corridor, I would see a lot of BMWs too, but where I lived I think people favored Audis more than they do out here due to the snow.

Loads and loads of 'em.

[Trouble is, it's starting to include a few more E60 Tourings...not a pretty sight !]

I couldn't possibly count them, but then again this is NY metro area and I have a 30 mile commute. As somebody else said, my garage has more bimmers than a dealer lot (I think something like 30-40% of the cars). I don't see a 6 that often, but I see 7s every day for sure, and tons and tons of 3s and 5s. Actually, no offence to SoCal but when I was in San Diego/LA in Feb for a week the bimmers on the streets were way less than what I see here.

40, 50 maybe more. Lots of 3 and 5 series mainly sedans. Also tons of Mercedes, Audis. I drive about 30 miles one way into DC. They seem almost as common as Toyotas around here.

flashing bmw drivers in 1972

My father had a 1972 BMW bavaria ($2,700) we so rairly saw other BMWs that when we did, we flashed our bright lights.

In 1978 it was trashed and we got a great 320i that we flashed at other BMWs utnil it became a full time job.
