Mein Auto: 2004 325iT
'04 325iT auto: jerky start

Hi,

I recently bought an automatic 2004 325iT with about 8000 miles on it.

I have noticed that when I start moving away from a stop light the car jerks or lurches a little as I give it some gas. I only give it a moderate about of gas, but the car still jerks forward in a way that my old VW Golf never did.

I can avoid the jerk if I accelerate *very* gently.

All of the gear changes are smooth: it only when starting to move from a stop that I experience the jerk.

Is this normal? Should I be concerned? The car is obviously still under warranty.

Cheers,
Rory

I have a 2003 325xiT, and I had a problem with jerking while stopping (search here for "steptronic clunk" for some references). I don't know if the 2004's had a similar / related problem, but it wouldn't hurt to have the dealer look at it.
