Do the new headlights swivel left and right or just to the right?

They move both left and right, but they move farther to the right. Left movement also won't occur at slow speeds, and no movement will occur when stopped.

Thanks, I guess this is for safety reasons, not to blind oncoming traffic.

Not the car I test drove a couple weeks ago. My salesman sat stopped in the parking garage, cranked the wheel left/right and the headlights moved in both directions. This was a 2006 model 530i.

I have the same problem. Since you got many different answers please let us all know when you get the correct answer.

I sent an email to BMW Customer Service and asked them for the right answer. If I get a reply I will post it for all to see.

Okay McFly

Just so you know.... re: active headlights-
You must be in D (as in "drive") , and cannot be on brakes or park.

Give this a try and you will see....

1) Wait until its dark (so you can see the movements of your headlight beam)
2) Put the car in drive and release breakes BUT do not step on the gas
3) Now turn your steering wheel, jerking it left and right, but keep focusing on your headlight beam.

4) If you don't see how the active headlights function by now, go see your optomitrist next morning

Give it a try McFly, I think you'd be pleasently surprised

I didn't have to do all that. In park, at night, I turned the headlight panel once to the left into 'auto' and the lights responded by turning left and right. More so to the right than left, but still, they turned while I was in park.
