Mein Auto: 1995-318i
Exclamation Where is the computer port on a 318i

The check engine light on my 1995 318i keeps coming on, So I took the car to the local Autozone to see the reason. But the guy there didnt know where to plug in computer. I dont have a manual. Can someone tell me where this port is. ?

This diagram shows a very basic engine wiring harness schematic for the e36 318. The diagnostic port that you are looking for is labled with the number 1. It's a black circular port on the left side of engine bay. It's covered by a black cap that unscrews.

I think the folks at Autozone can only read codes from OBD-II systems in 1996 and later vehicles.
