New 530i questions

Hi,
I have 2 questions regarding leasing and ordering the car:

1. What should I get from the sales man when I put down the $1000 for ordering a car from BMW? like a written down details about the deal, selling price, MF, fees, etc? Is email enough?

2. Can you cancel the order and get the $1000 back if anything happened? very unlikely, but good to know.

Please advice as soon as possible, I am on the verge of ordering the car.

Get everything written about the deal you negotiated! EVERYTHING!

I think in CA you have until you take possession to get your deposit back.

Things that are not recited in writing are subject to being misunderstood by both parties or interpreted differently later. Get it in writing, it is good for you and the dealer. Believe it or not dealers get lied to by customers as much as customers are are bamboozled by salespeople.

I would say that an e-mail would be ok, but a fax would be better, signed by you and the dealer....

I think (somebody from CA can confirm this) that you CAN get your money back if you cancel the order.

I got a quote for a 530i with 1300 over invoice (from edmunds) and MF 0.0014 for 36/12000, aq fee $725, no other dealer fees. Is that a good/fair deal in north CA?

Yes, it's California law the order deposits are refundable. You can order a pink BMW with lavender interior, change your mind, and get all your money back -- so long as you don't complete the sale by taking possession. It even holds true on ED orders.

I think 1300 over invoice and MF of 0.0014 is good assuming you the residual value is 62%. Which dealer are you talking to?

Since you are going to lease - why not get a 2005 545 instead. Resale won't be an issue and you should be able to get a great deal since the 2006 550s are out. Its much more car - and your payments will be about the same.

Wish I could find a 545.......

I got the quote from Seaside BMW, north CA.
I could not find a 545 anymore.

It is a torture to wait for 8 weeks for my new bimmer

How do you guys like your new 530i?

I think they're all gone now, and besides the residuals are quite low.
