Just a real quick thought, have you checked your timing belt? The belt runs the cam shaft and the rotor which in turn controls the spark to the corrisponding cylinder. probally the best way to chek this is to pull the distributor and and have someone crank the engine and watch to see if the rotor turns, or better to turn the engine manually. If you skiped a tooth the cylinder may hit the valves causing much MUCH bigger problems, but if this is the case you would probally have a spark? If it does not turn you probally broke your timing belt.

It would also be wise to check the condition of the cap & rotor, wires and spark plugs, maybe for some reason there is a crack in the plastic and the spark is finding new pathways to the ground other than through the spark plugs.

To check spark remove a spark plug, connect the spark plug to the spark plug wire and then touch the end of the spark plug to the engine head. crank the engine and visually see if there is spark. Note if the spark plug is not grounded it will not spark. Be carefull and do not touch the spark plug while cranking the engine or you may be the ground and it will send the high voltage intended for the spark plug though you.

Hope this helps in trying to narrow the problem
