Yep, i hear you about having the service done twice for the 11/01 to 12/02. I had an 11/01 '02 model I sold exactly for that reason. I did wait until 11/01 for smg. I wanted it so badly. All my cars have been smg. I love high-tech.

AHHHH...i wish there was a set price for the e90 m3 so i could either scratch it off my list (along with the RS4) or seriously consider it. Im in the market for a very inexpensive (sub $7000 range) daily driver while my tahoe is getting some work done, and until i find a permanant new car.

Ive been reading $60,000 base, not to mention the initial markup. I think an e46 m3 would be the best choice for me.

Yep, I'm figuring a $60K base price and with all the options the price could balloon to almost $75K which interestingly enough is what I paid for my 2003 M5 fully loaded. Man, the prices are climbing. The cost and the look of the E46 M3 is beginning to look better and better. I think it'll be hard to improve upon the looks of the E46....it destined to be a classic car.

Agreed...I'm really concerned about what the next gen M3 will look like (call me shallow or whatever, but I really would not be compelled by a car that is the automotive equivalent of "She's kinda fat and not much to look at but she's great in the sack and can really cook.")

And in 2007/08, there are these factors to consider:

1. At a $75K price point, the P-cars will come into play.
2. Something from Infiniti might surpass BMW's offering.
3. I'll be older and less "offended/put off" by the relative softness of AMG's offerings.

1. Realize that P car prices will go up.

2. Get real. They may come close, but surpass? M cars (real M cars)? not likely.

3. So how old are you going to be in 2 years? I guess that is a state of mind, but considering the people over 60 who have bought, and love M3s yo are only asold as you act.

The M3 will still be teh best all around performance car made. Perfect? No, but very good at everything. And seeing the M5 in the flesh, I am much less worried about the looks of the E90 M3.

I hope you're right!

1. The P-cars will be more expensive but I'm relatively assured that they won't be ugly at worst or bland at best.

2. Infiniti really surprised me when car shopping last year..it'll depend on how close they get to the ///M cars (I think they're already better than the X's)...where I'll be willing to spend more on a Porsche, I may also be convinced to save a ton on an Infiniti.

3. 47 (but hopefully still going on 25)...however even today, I'd take a CLS over an "equivalent" E60.

But I'll cross that bridge when I get there. I am still thoroughly enjoying the E46's and you can bet that I'm rooting for the next M3 to evoke those familiar "Whoa, I gotta get me one of those!" feelings.
