Head-up Display Option

I am eagerly awaiting delivery of a 2006 M3. I didn't order the car with the optional head-up display, which I now regret. Is it possible for the dealership to install this or are there any after-market head-up displays that integrate with the M3 navigation system?

Uh, there is no HUD option on the M3 so you're not missing anything. The HUD is for the M5.

You may be right but the dealer asked whether we wanted to have it installed and it was also shown as an option in the brochure for the M3 Convertible.

I looked at the online brochure and there is no mention of it. Iam not aware of HU being an option on any E46.

Your dealer is an idiot. He is looking at the ///M Sales guide and not realizing that he flipped past the page on the ///M3 and he is looking at the M5/M6 section.

The only HUD you can get on E46 is by placing a couple mirrors strategically to reflect the imagine of your anlog speedo onto your windshield

Agree. Plus I don't think we will ever see HUD offered on the 3 series. The dash is to small (not deep enough) to accomodate the equipment. If they come out with a new smaller design in the future than there might be a chance.

I agree with the analysis that the dealer is an idiot. When I ordered the car he said it the system was compatible with iPod. When I picked up the car yesterday and asked where the connection was he said, oh, you need to get a $800 kit installed. I called their service department to find out what the deal was. They said to come on in and they could install something and that it wouldn't be that expensive. I went there this morning and they told me that the iPod module wasn't compatible with the navigation system and that I was SOL. I wish the dealer had told me that yesterday (or when I purchased the car) rather than have wasted more of my time.

Don't rely on what the dealer tells you - most don't have the knowledge that online forums offer.
