Picked up my 2006 750Li

My 750Li finally arrived 8 weeks after my order. Initial impression: great handling and power with the sport pkg - took a 40 mph freeway transition at 80 effortlessly; the upgraded comfort seats are superb with all the adjustments imaginable plus the active driver seat cushion (it actually a butt massager); the HK Logic 7 sound system is not as good as the Mark Levinson in the Lexus - low frequencies sounds a little tinny and muffled, especially with high Logic 7 gain setting; the iDrive is not as bad I had been hearing - took only a little while to get used to; my Blackbery 7130 actually works with the Bluetooth pairing.

Now here are the more negative parts: 1) The iDrive computer crashed several times (it seems to happen only after I start up the car back up with the radar engaged then drive forward a little ways and it would crash as the screen transitions from the radar image back to the normal display. It would always crash and restart twice in a raw - one time it also wiped out my Sat radio presets). 2) It is annoying that the fog light setting is not persistent - it has to be turned on everytime when the headlights is turned on. 3) There is no way (at least I have not found one yet) to search the the address book that was download from the phone - It is only listed alphabetically by the first name and I have over 2300 entries and it is impossible to scroll through all of them. 4) The automatic trunk cannot be closed by pushing the button in the car - only the button on the trunk lip can be used to close.

Overall, it feels and looks great. Did I mention that I love its handling and performance?

I'll try to post some soon. I don't think there is any height difference with the sport pkg. The only outwardly visible sign of a sport package is the body color trims (the rain gutter, bumpers, and the strip that runs across the trunk that links the taillights) and the black window frames.

negative. Sport package has different suspension, sits lower. Also you should have the 3spoke steering wheel.

Yes, sport pkg. includes shadow line trim, different wheels, sport tuned suspension, and rides slightly lower.

Agree about the poorly designed address book access, no trunk closing.

I suspect the crashing may have to do with your large address book.

The MP3 changer is kind of nice, best use of the large screen when it displays artist and title info..

Congrats on your new ride, Holein1. I love the look of the Sport Pkg (no bias there) and agree with your observations. The Address Book in my 650i has the ability to be searched by alphabet, which is nice, although I can't fathom having 2300 entires. I don't even know 2300 people. (And I'm good with that.)

2300 phone numbers?

Try using voice command for phonebook numbers, works pretty good.

Congrats on the new car, and the handling of these huge cars with 18" tires simply amazes me too. Enjoy
