New 745 il owner

Bought a 2004 745il a couple of months ago. After reading this forum for a couple of years, thought I'd introduce myself to the 7 forum and show a quick picture of the car. This is our 3rd BMW, first was a 528. My wife still drives a 528t. These cars are fantastic. Look forweard to learning more about this car in the forum.

Having had a one of these for the last three years I can honestly tell you it's a fantastic car. Surprisingly agile.

And...sorry for the "il" reference.

So far the car is amazing. Although I'm used to the size of the 5 series, the 745 handles much better than I would have expected for such a big and heavy car. Although it is a little softer ride than the 5, the amenities of the 745 are incredible!

Have you had a chance to try it in the Sport mode? When I first got the car, I tried it a couple of times, then, about 6 months later, I began using Sport almost exclusively. It's amazing how the systems anticipate when to down-shift, going into turns, corners, etc.
It was like falling in love with the car all over again. Next year, I'm going to start using the manual mode, but for right now, I'm enjoying the sport mode too much.

Did you get the bluetooth adapter?

I have used all 3 modes but prefer manual mode mostly. Though sport is pretty amazing the way it maintains the proper rpm. Although I have noticed that in sport or manual, the gas milage seems much worse than in auto. I am doing a test in auto this week. So far in 75% highway driving, I am getting about 23.5 mpg. In manual it seems like I get 18-19 mpg.

Will get the blue tooth adapter in the fall when my carrier credits me $100 for a new phone; right now my phone is not blue tooth capable. Using the V60 phone that came with the car is nice in the car but it is too bulky to carry around.

Same here....23-24 in auto, 20-21 in sport, and 18-19 in manual.
Indicating the car is smarter than me when it comes to shifting!
