2006/2007 bmw 530i.

Ok, I know the following topics have already been covered, but need additional information.
1). How are the tires? I have been hearing that the runflats are horrible. I know that ever dealer is different, but is there an optional tire/wheel maintance/warranty offered from the dealers? Also, since there has been negative feedbac on the runflats, should I just get aftermarket wheels. If so, I am leaning towards the F1, but any other options?
2). Now the wheels, I know I have the BMW M5 wheel option, but should I go with aftermarket rims for that amount of money? Also, I was leaning towards 20-22 inch wheels, any opinions?
3). Is the SMG transmission worth the money?
4). Is the upgraded audio system worth the money?
5). I know that everybody is different, but what color is favored. I just want to know if you are satisfied with your color choice or if you had another go at it, would you choice a different color? I love the dark silver/titanium colors, but there are so many, which one should I go with?
6). What color interior is prefered?
7). Anything else I should know before I go purchase( like accesories)?

There are tons of threads about SMG and premium audio.

Here's one about audio:

Here's one about SMG -- there are a TON of threads about this really!

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...&highlight=SMG

There are a lot of color threads -- to each their own really. Just get what you like. Least popular color on this board is Olivin Green Metallic.

There are tons of wheel threads. Handling will suffer at 22 inches without a doubt. Me -- I like the stock look myself.

I like it more in metallic grey and Beige interior.I wouldn't get an SMG as I've heard a lot about it's reliabillity(bad). The logic 7 definitely is worth the money if you are a sound maniac..If not, just get the premium one.Generally the E60 is an amazing car and according to my oppinion,it's by far the best one in it's category.I don't posses it,but I know a lot of people who do and are totally satisfied from it.

Premium sound = Logic 7. There are a few ways to configure a system that has Logic 7, but I don't think that any system without Logic 7 is called "premium."

Just a FYI... You do know that SMG and Manual are hit with Gas Guzzler Tax right? $3K. Ouch! But, if you're okay with that then it's all good.

Just in general, black rims look good on black cars. Monaco Blue is dark enough that I think black rims will look fine.

Tires... Top of the line: Michelin Sport PS2 and Goodyear F1-GSD3 = $$$$. Some other less expensive tires: Bridgestone, Pirelli, Toyo, Nitto, Continental, Dunlop.

Is there anyone out here who is thinking of postponing the decision to get an 07 530i, hoping that 08 would most likely be getting the bi-turbo engine?

On the contrary, is some apprehensive about the reliability of bi-turbo engine to justify purchase of 07 530i while it is still in production?

Uh, nope!

The 550i is hit with GGT if the SMG/Manual is optioned...and it is $1.3k. The I6s have no GGT.

Now the ///M5 does get a $3k GGT.

Some hate 'em, some love 'em. I had them for 9k miles of ownership on my 545i and they were just fine. I didn't hate 'em nor love 'em, they just worked fine like you'd expect. The price tag to replace them is unsavory but that is about it. Some have been quite noisy, too. I do think it is unfortunate that we do not have a CHOICE in the matter for getting runflats or not but I suspect a CHOICE might be a managment headache for BMW.... Still, sucks you have to get them.

Your call here. Going to larger wheels WILL degrade and harshen up the ride make no bones about it. I wouldn't go any further than 19" if you are just itchin' to get different wheels.

Yes...but Search and read all the threads. Lottsa opinions on this one. I love mine and the only reason my new 550i ain't getting one is because of the stupid GGT.

Subjective: you should hear both if possible but the Logic 7 is quite good. I would just get the Logic7 and skip the Prem Sound package: who needs a 6-disc changer nowadays?

Try to find an Amethyst Grey car to look at. It is a kind of bronze (dunno where the Grey in it is). This is perhaps the rarest of all E60 colors right now. You simply cannot find it but I love it. I wish I could convince my wife to get an Amethyst Grey car with the two-tone Auburn interior but no dice. She want the Monaco Blue (dark blue) with the Auburn. Silver BMWs are a dime a dozen...

Whatever matches your exterior! When it comes to colors, I like to be different. I like the two-toned interiors because they add a bit of contrast/punch to an otherwise all-black/beige/grey interior. Look at my signature and the color scheme of the 2001 530i. That color combo is only 1 of 2 that I've ever heard of on an E39.

If you get the NAV, be sure to get the HUD. IMO, they go hand in hand and should be packaged together. Look into doing European Delivery for savings and fun in your new BMW.

Good Luck!

Thanks for correcting me...

It's like I'm pulling info outta my a$$ without confirming it. I'll stop with the bad info.

The M5 wheels are ~$1600, which is cheap. You will not find any aftermarket 20 - 22 wheels that cheap. Look to spend anywhere from $3000 - $6000 just for the wheels. Now, if you're looking at replicas, that's a different story.
