$1,300 clear bra - wtf??

Someone - everyone - please tell me this is WAY too much $$$ for ANY kind of clear bra. A local place quoted me this for "free cut" 3M. I was only blonde for like 6 months in '03! How stupid do they think... Nevermind. Seriously: Is there any kind of clear bra that runs this high?

And, am I the only one who can't be serious while discussing "clear bra"? lol

Depends on who is doing it and what's being covered, as well as what part of the country. I think the west coast prices dropped first as everyone and his brother started doing it.

3 years ago I paid over 1K to cover my M3. But that price included all the normal spots plus rearview mirrors, headlights, door handle cup, door edges, front and rear rocker panels, door sills and the top of the rear bumper under the trunk lid. And the guy was a real pro and did a flawless install, and 3 years later I still don't have my first stone chip.

I'm assuming with more competition today his price would be cheaper.

$1k?!? WTH, it only cost $450 to have it done to a Grand Cherokee. I'd say the Grand has a grille twice the size of the bimmer and the mirrors are larger too.

Why doesn't BMW offer this as an option?

It's been a while but I vaguely remember it costing in the $500 area. The covered the whole front of the car inlcuded the M aero kit, around the headlights but not on the headlights themselves and it covers the rearview mirrors. $1K+ sounds very high to me.

Thanks for the feedback. They better come way hella down on the price, or else clear-bra the crap outta my car, and maybe a few other things around here that could use protection.

I for one think clear bras are way under rated and should be promoted more - along with clear shirts and blouses

I paid $450 here in Phx. It covered the front bumper, 20" up the hood, the front fender flares, and the mirrors. $1,300 is up the @ss!!!

even $450 is too much for a few pieces or saran wrap that cost $5, and an hour or two hours of labor.

You got that right. If you want a bra, tint, car detailed, everything is double to triple the cost.

My friend has a Camry Solara and got a clear bra $195. Go figure.

As long as people are willing to pay (which there are few of them) I guess the prices will remain high. However, it is very very rare when I see a car with a clear bra. Maybe once or twice a year.

$1,300 clear bra - wtf??

If the vender is quoting you Xpel clear bra, I can see costing you around $1300. Xpel has a 10yr warranty against discoloration, hazing, peeling and scratching. The material Xpel uses self heals itself. $1300 would basically wrap just about the entire car.

3M has a lock on that market but the installed price you were quoted is nosebleed grade.

Kentfield is very high cost real estate and your reluctance may be a matter of self respect rather than limited resources. Pay it if you wish - genuine 3M material applied by an experienced professional is, in the long run, inexpensive - and after, PM for the investment opportunity of a lifetime!

On the 1st of August, the Golden Gate Bridge District, unable to raise tolls in this difficult recession, is selling shares in the Golden Gate Bridge - this is a one day sale. We are now accepting commissions in order to guarantee availability of shares as demand is expected to far exceed supply.

A deposit of $1300 reserves up to 1000 shares at $1000 par value. Don't delay - at minimum the commission must be paid, and as many shares as you wish may be prepaid so that your shares are available to you at par and before the share price rises.

Bank routing info is available on contact. We look forward to doing businesss!

Suntek and the Xpel ultimate film are self healing. All other films suck compared to these two. On my wifes GT I have Xpel ultimate film partial hood matched over to the front fenders, front bumper, mirrors, door handle cups and top of rear bumper. Retail would be $700-800 here in Atlanta. Contact Bob Willis in your area http://www.justwaxed.net/ Bob is one of the top detailers in the country and can direct you to someone who will do a quality job.

I paid $800 for full hood, partial fenders, mirrors and rear bumper with XPel Ultimate. It took him more than 3 hours but it's the third clear bra this car has had and easily the best install job of all of them. Totally worth it if you are keeping the car more than a few years.
