[X] ability to make/receive calls
[X] phone book automatically synches to car (ONLY SIM CARD ENTRIES!!!)
[ ] dial by name (without verbal training of system)
[X] calling name display (using adddress book)
[ ] ability to send/receive SMS

By the way, I don't have iDrive on this model.
Followed the last paragraph here:
http://golilm.com/DIY/Bluetooth/
BUT, I never did see the pairing message, or success, I just saw on my phone it discovered it and I was able to enter the Passcode Key.
The Address Book import took abour 6 minutes, I had about 20 entries.

I also notice that I can't hang up, or press the PTT button or something, the radio will stay locked in PHONE mode, and I have to turn off the phone, or toggle the BlueTooth connectivity on the phone itself to break the connection.
I'm sure I'll know more tomorrow, driving out to Memphis, on a 3 hour trip.

Question Bang & Olufsen/Samsung Serene Compatibility???

Does anyone know whether the Bang & Olufsen Serene/Samsung E910 is compatible with the BMW Bluetooth system?

For completeness I should say that I live in the U.K., drive a late 2005 (2006 model) X5, and my service provider is Vodafone.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

The P800, P900 and P910 have all had their problems with the BMW BT that we are well aware of. The P990i is soon going to be available with 3G and a range of other goodies. Is anyone aware of whether the Symbian 9.1 OS will be compatible with BMW BT?

Thanks

Unfortunately, not all Bluetooth compatible phones will work (partially or fully) with BMW's Bluetooth systems. As such, “Bluetooth” is an ambiguous term and insufficient to ensure compatibility. That is unfortunate, since "Bluetooth" is all that is typically included in the phone's description.

My experience is a good example: my do-everything SonyEricsson P900 does not work with my Bluetooth-capable car (the SonyEricsson P900 lacks a "handsfree profile" required to work with the BMW implementation of integration of cell phone and car). Successful 6 Series Bluetoth retrofit, but phone incompatible

Even if you have a "BT-compatible" phone with the BT "handsfree profile," there are other features that may or may not work properly. For example, the phone should automatically share its phone book with the car to enable a set of nice features: based on your phone's address book: Calling Name display and

BMW Customer Assistance has a short list of compatible phones (SE T68i, SE T610, SE T630, Motorola V600). A more extensive compatibility list is here:

T-Mobile MDA or Verizon XV6700

Has anyone had any luck getting the T-Mobile MDA or Verizon XV6700 to successfully work with their vehicle?

Thanks!

My XV6700 worked fine for calls (but no address book sync) prior to applying the ROM update that enabled direct-push for email.

Since the ROM update, I can't get my phone / car to stay paired: They will usually pair, and then stay connected for a while - (I can make/receive calls, the address book transfers). But eventually the car loses connection with the phone. This usually happens within 15 minutes of pairing, but sometimes it "lasts" longer.

What's crazy is that sometimes the phone completely disappears from the list of paired devices in the car. Argh!

Thanks for the reply.... Sounds like you are familar with tweaking firmware/software, which I do with most every phone I've had. I'd be interested to hear back if you manage to find an updated rom or mod that smooths out the issue with your XV6700 staying paired.

Nextel 7100i (Sprint) in 2007 550i works perfect including voice and display directory. Paired up and loaded directory instantly. "Programed" diamond button to bring up directory on steering wheel. Works great.

does anyone have a clue why the nokia e61 wont work on my 2006 530i. i can get it to pair, but it wont actually hook up. now the kicker is that the dealer gave me a loaner for 2 weeks, it was a 2005 530 wagon and the bluetooth worked flawlessly. now my moto razr works, but the nokia doesnt. any one have suggestions as to how to get it to work? are there idrive bluetooth updates that are available?
thanks,

Need Help: Treo 650 with 07 525i

I cannot get the Treo 650 (Cingular Unlock w/ T-mobile Services) to dial out. I have no problem if I dial the number from the phone or receive call, then it will transfer the sound to the car flawlessly. It also transfer the phone numbers in favorite button to the phone book. It just can't dial out, it just show connecting but never connect. Right now the feature of BMW bluetooth is the same as my blueetooth headset.
Does anyone have experience this problem too? Any solution to this?

THX Vic

Blackberry 7130 Cingular

I have paired up my Blackberry 7130 with my 550i. Does work for the most part. Does pull in address book. Some functionality not there, but for the most part works fine. My previous RAZR had all functionality, but I needed the BB for email.

Check the list of phones on the bmwusa website,it's updated fairly often and be sure and read the fine print. While some phones may work, it might not download your phonebook.
Try to pair your phone on the test drive, if it's on the list of approved phones, and if not,go to your carrier and get the correct one,you can pair up to 4 different phones to your car

Initially I was told (by salesman and BMWUSA.com) that my Samsung A900 will not work with my new 2007 550i, but after playing around with it I was able to connect the two. here is how to do it.

Make sure Bluetooth is on from communications menu
Change to screen in communications menu that says "Phone connectable in this menu"
Search for Devices on your cell phone
Enter pin on cell phone
Follow directions to connect the phone in the BMW menu

Now this does not mean that the phone is fully compatible, there are some features that will not work. See issues below

Will not download phonebook, it will attempt but will be stuck at "please wait" screen forever
Will not store any numbers at all, even though you have made calls, so there is no history of calls at all. All Recent dials, recent missed calls, recent incoming calls menus will be blank
will not hangup a call that the other party has not hung up first on

While the issues above are quite serious, I am still very happy that I can use my phone and do not have to switch to "laptop like" Treo (the only offical Sprint phone that is compatible).
