That's actually a separate topic from this one, which is for the defect codes found in the service history printout from the dealer.

You may find this post helpful if the X3 cluster is similar to the E46 one: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...48&postcount=7

You can find the tool at http://www.tmk.com/defect-form. For some data to test the form, just do a search on these forums for the text "No open campaigns". That will usually be at the end of the vehicle history report.
I have released a production version of this tool. All of the limitations mentioned in the original announcement have been addressed, and it is now using the February, 2006 defect database.

Enjoy!

The tool just above indicates that it is "Tyres-Dunlop".

Why didn't you use the tool?

Help BMW Service Codes!

I am in the process of buying a preowned 760i and discovered as we were closing the deal there were some issues with the vehicle due to the previous owner's use of ethanol blended gasoline. As a result, I am very interested in understanding the service codes within the vehicle history report. Can someone help me out? I looked on the PDF, but many of the codes were not listed there. The codes of interest are:
6135131400
1614041200
6577060200
51471301Bl
513000700

Did you use my online tool (linked a few posts above)? I get the following results:

6135131400 Side/low beam/reversing/licence plate light function in lights module Occasional malfunction
1614041200 Electric fuel pump in fuel tank (in-tank electric fuel pump) Permanent failure
6577060200 Airbag control unit / safety and information module SIM / safety and gateway module SGM Software err
5147130100 Foot mat retainer Cracked / broken / torn off

Your last code is missing a digit somewhere.

For any codes with odd suffixes, try changing the last 2 letters to 00 (zero-zero) and submitting it on my form at http://www.tmk.com/defect-form. In your case, this returns "3241054800 Hose from pump to steering gear Leaking".

OBD II AutoScanner

Hello, if you have need to borrow the OBD II AutoScanner and live near Paramus NJ, send me an email, wcawley@us.nomura.com. You can get the codes from anywhere, but once you know the issue, turning off the warning lite required that I buy the Scanner. It's gathering dust so if it can help someone else, let me know....

Smile How's this list

Attached is a list of BMW dealers that I have compiled over the years. The list is far from complete but it's a start.

Hopefully, others will feel free to add dealer names to the list.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Terry and Fred for the information. I decided to buy the 2003 325Ci for my DD, partially based on the good service history and local dealer history. (instead of waiting for a new Mazdaspeed3 or Civic Si...must be getting old)

Search for New Codes

I just became a member and am amazed at the wealth of information exchanged. I am looking to find the definition for these codes that I have not been able to understand. I have this horrible feeling that the dealer was aware of the problems on the car when they sold me a "pre-certified BMW". Now they want me to spend $7000 to get them "refixed". If there is any one out there who can help me, please post:
