iPod for E65

Anyone from BMW monitoring this forum?

When will the iPod adapter be available?
When? When? When?

The press release said it would be ready in July. It's now October. There must be someone who knows when it will really be available. Emails to BMW customer service have gone un-answered.

They said it would be available at the end of October.... Don't hold your breath, but that's what they told me... They said that they were wrapping up the PROGMAN software update and expect it to be available for the existing IPOD Interface on the 5 and 6 Series just released..... Keep your fingers crossed... I wish BMW would get this and stick to their word on this one. Anyone else heard anything different?? Let's hope....

Ok...anything new on the IPOD for the new 7's?

If I use my FM transmitter through the cig lighter - the IPOD keeps running (and sucking on the car battery) when I turn the car off. I didn't have that problem in the 545.

How are you guys with newer 7's listening to your iPods in the car?

Tom, I have 2002 745...when will they have it ready for this model? I like others have been frustratingly waiting. Any real perspective would be appreciated. Steve

Not sure - we're told that a software update will not be available for pre 03/2005 models.

Tom, Thanks, appreciate the quick reply. What does that mean -- "a software update will not be available for pre 03/2005 models."? Does that mean one is definitely not coming or still waiting or what??
If one is definitlely not coming and we are out of luck for the 2002's I'd soon know, than sitting around and wishing and waiting.

We're told there is not an iPod kit for the 7-series coming from BMW if your build date is pre 3/2005. In my opinion, it's still too early too to say for sure.

Tom, ugh! Thanks for your perspective. What would you recommend for a an passionate ipod user who doesn't yet want to trade in his car? I have an fm modulator that is "ok" but crappy as fine music goes on a prologic system.

We'll have to wait and see in the meantime for earlier models.
