highly recommended rolf!! he is a extremely nice guy!! he dropped us off from the hotel to the airport. He arrived on time, drove professionally and he even walked to the airline counter and checked in with us. Also walked us to the custom and made sure that we knew where and how to get our tax refund back!!! extremely patient and nice guy!! highly recommended!! A+++++

My wife and I just returned from our ED. Rolf picked us up at the airport, dropped us the next morning at the ED center, and picked us up from Harms to take us to the airport 10 days later. He gave us excellent advice about areas in Italy to visit that were perfect. Having Rolf chauffeur us was awesome. He is very punctual and knowledgeable. From reading here we knew he would not accept a tip so we decided to bring a small gift for him. Highly recommended.

I highly recommend Rolfe like most of Festers...He was very helpful in every aspect of my ED trip on 9/29/06...It's like having a friend in Munich...

Rolf is great! Our flight was delayed and luggage lost, but he waited for us nontheless. Called while I was picking up the car to see if all was ok. Rolf came to the hotel and had me follow him out to the drop off site the night before I left, and then showed up in a fantastic new 7-series, long base, "bmw invidual" model. Fantastic machine. Couldn't ask for nicer service and knowledge of BMW delivery when in Munich.

What kind of gift do you suggest? Does he have grandchildren?

Rolf just emailed me. It's all set, however, Peter will be picking us up and not Rolf as he has to be elsewhere. Anyone met Peter before? Rolf mentioned he does not have good command of the English language.

Peter is great. I can't speak about his English language command since we never spoke in English but he's super.

Yes Peter is a very nice guy, but does have a limited English vocabulary. However you hire him to take you from the Airport to the Delivery Center I assume and at that he is very good. He is very eager to help and carry your luggage etc. One word of caution, he was driving a cabrio and might not be able to take two people and a lot of luggage. He did order a new X3 the same day he picked me up, so it might not be an issue.

I just got back from my great ED experience and I had the pleaasure to deal with Peter, since Rolf was not available. Peter picked us up on his X3 diesel. He is a gentleman, he also used to work for BMW and he would go out of his way to help you.

Great experience and thanks a lot Peter for helping us out.

i found pete's english to be more than adequate.. better than you think. Do not even worry about it. he is totally great, reliable, and his english is fine.

Just got back from Munchen and our ED on a 650 Vert. Rolf picked us up at airport, dropped us off at our Munich hotel and picked us up the next day for our trip to the Delivery Center. We used the morning to explore the old city center and waited until 2pm to head out to the Delivery Center. It worked fine since Rolf knew it wouldn't be too late for them to process the car. On our return to Munich, he called us at our hotel as promissed and showed up to pick us up at Harms in Garching the next day. In both cases, he was sporting an Individual 7 series he had been loaned by BMW. We found him punctual, courteous and very informative. He is highly recommended, especially if you have your wife along and have additional luggage to cart around. Just a very nice and comfortable way to start and end your ED trip in Munich. Just heard back from Rolf that he is picking us up at the airport in December. It's one thing less to worry about. Certainly looking forward to meeting him after what everybody else is saying.

Same here. He replied in 24hrs and picking me up in Jan.

Why is this not a sticky anymore? Rolf is a valuable asset to the ED program.

A couple of comments. When it comes to traveling, I'm amongst the cheapest individuals and spare most expenses that many would consider essential. I've chosen to ride on the back of the $1 scooter out of the airport in Cambodia over the $10 taxi; cramp myself for two hours with five locals in a bush taxi for $2.5 crossing the border into Cameroon, rented a dilapidated junk from a hole in the wall business in Colombia over better known agencies and traveled the country side... I could go on for pages on how to save a buck or two in foreign places by quickly adapting to what the local population does, so why did I choose something so seemingly pecunious as having an agent pick me up at the airport to take me to the delivery center versus just taking public transportation?
Well, Rolf's fee of 35E is ridiculously low compared to a taxi. It barely covers the cost of gas, specially if he shows up in a 7 series as he did when he picked me up. He has easy access to fleet vehicles, so he tries to use them if he can. He's quasi-retired and only does this to supplement his pension and perhaps keep himself entertained. More formally, he does Costumer Service for VIPs from Africa and the Caribbean, but since he has free time, he also brings ED purchasers from the airport to the center, and if they want, he can give them a private tour of the factory. He's been with BMW since '67, so if he keeps to the subject, he can provide a wealth of information.

You can still get to the center from the airport for less, but at about 10E for the circular route of the S/U-bahn there isn't much savings if there is more than one person in your party (I met up with my dad who had a recently operated knee so I was limiting the walking also). The train will also take at least an extra 40 min. so if you arrive in the afternoon as I did, you're cutting it close (I was scheduled to arrive at 1pm, but with some delays, I was by far, the last person at the delivery center, --I barely got to use my coupon for the cafe upstairs, as they were half-closing). You may save some time if you take the Luftansa shuttle to a bahn station as some have suggested, but then you haven't saved anything when you add the shuttle and the train.

Lastly, Rolf is a very chatting person, and unlike a cab driver, he knows exactly why you are there. So he can answer some questions if you still have them, such as driving regulations, or the meaning of some signs on the road if you haven't spent much time in Europe before. I mentioned to him my subsequent drive to Koln that evening, and he was able to suggest a place to stop midpoint 300km away where I could sample some sausages at a particular festival taking place that week.
So if you don't get an answer by email, I would suggest you spend the extra buck on the phone call to Germany and reach him on his mobile, give him your date and flight number, and he'll let you know if he's available.
