Mr Norbert Reithofer, the Head of Manufacturing at BMW AG, have more or less acknowledged in an interview on the german TV that they have the go from the board to build the 135i, where he stated that the 135i would "help BMW to position the other series better and easier in the market"

Alex, is that the 3 door turbo 3.0L and any word on US sales?

Same engine that comes on the 335i (turbo). Sorry, no news on the availability for the US market yet.

The decision to build this car, on the other hand, means that there won't be an M version for the 1 Series.

But there could be an M2 coupe right? I don't think that would overlap with a 135i hatchback.

He didn't mention anything about the body form (3 or 5 door), but by the expansion rate that BMW has at the moment and taking the upcoming models of other manufacturers into account, one could guess that it would be available across the full 1-Series range (coupe, cabriolet, hatchback).

I will keep mine till that new 135 comes out. At least I already have the PSS9 Suspension, Rear Differential with LSD and BBS Wheels Looks like the basic mods are covered from day 1 and by the time that new 135i arrives the tuners would already have the 335i at around 400 +Horsepower so I will have 400+ HP 1 series

Current issue of Motor Trend reports that the 135i is rumored to be here in the US for the 2008 model year...
I'll believe it when I see it...
In the meantime, I'll have to turn to my Cooper S GP

That would be one of the best things ever I would drive my Supercharged 330 around till then At 4.5 sec. there aren't too many cars on the road that I have to worry about these days any ways. I may install the new Twin-Screw Supercharger with the stage III kit for my car to keep me happy till that car comes out.

Being that Audi has a sssweet little ride in the Turbo A3, it makes perfect sence to me to try and cut in on the action.

I just wanted to note that I was driving around Munich today and while on the Frankfurter Ring headed to the Niederlassung Munchen, ended up driving next to a right hand drive 130i Coupe (badge blacked out). It had the typical black taping on the black and along the side skirts, rear tail lights, etc.
