E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

2-series styling hints

For those of us anxiously waiting for the 2-series, have any of you noticed how BMW has provided us with some styling hints?

First of all, the front. Based on the new 3-series and 6-series coupes, BMW seems to take a more subtly-aggressive approach to its coupes, so the 2-series may have some more pleasing shapes.

The 2-series cabrio spyshots have already hinted at the front bumper design. Take a close look at these spyshots. Compared to the 1-series, the 2-er seems to have a more subtly-aggressive front bumper shape.

Secondly, the side. The 3-er and 6-er coupes have an interesting design characteristic where the the lower trim curves up around the door opening. The 2-er coupe may also have this characteristic.

Any thoughts??

The test mule reminds me of an E46, especially in the front!

Bangle has definatley made BMW designs look a little bit more classic with the new 3er coupe and X5......Is the 2er coming to the U.S. or no???

Good eye, Icedragon! They will definetely be a little more on the conservative side because they have a tough market to sell this car in- just look at the A3, its waaaaay too expensive for what you get.

I just hope that the lukewarm reception the A3's been getting would not be sealing the fate for the US bound 1-series.

I think if they can sell a 130i (230i) for under $35k, it will be a hit. If it gets closer to the $40k mark, I think it will be doomed to receive low sales figures like the A3.
