2002 745il...pretty sweet ride

Went and test drove a 2002 745IL with 50,000 miles on it. Silver on black with the premium package. It was priced at $34,900...which is in my range for such an awesome car. However, when I called my performance guy at my local dealership...he put some fear in me. First off, the car was repurchased by BMW at one point, I think this they call it an Assist Vehicle. He also said that the 2002 had a ton of problems. He said it is worth the money to get a 2003, and advise?

I have been all over these boards asking questions about the many different body styles/models...so thanks for putting up with me!

I would caution on buying a assist vehicle, but don't shy away from a 02. I bought one and i have had some qualms but its well worth. if it is certified just take it back and they will fix it. basically i have a 06-07 750i. all my software is 06-07. my nav was replaced with dvd. i have alot 06-07 parts, my engine is a 02. well worth. save the bucks on a 02. your money not mine though.....

I got an 02 that had some Idrive issuse also but to me it seems that they have all been sorted out. I have had the car for only a short time but everything works reall well.

Hey I still have warrany till 9/08 or 100K and I have 54K on it now so I'm not worried much. I'm going to have it checked out and have any updates that are needed done soon also.

I have heard a lot of them are assist vehicles due to all the problems with the IDrive. I am going to wait a bit and see if I can't find a better deal, especially with the new body style out soon. Thanks for the help.
