Question what happens to the euro plates?

are they removed by the dealer when inspected in north america or left on until you provide your plates when claiming the car? personally, i'll be putting up a fight if they keep them, i want my euro plates!

I took my front ED plate when I dropped the car off in Europe. When it arrived stateside, it still had the rear on. I am running the car with the euro plate right now before my permanent license plates arrive.

Like it!

what do the cops think of that? chp gave me more than a headache with my ontario plates when i drove down there.

on a similar note, do the euro-plates ever expire? i gather that the plate follows the car until its demise...so does that mean a lifetime of swapping to the euro-plate when i have a craving for a ticket-immunity (actually, insurance increase immunity is what i'm after)?

No problem with the cops yet. But I am legal...have the temporary reg or whatever it is on my windshield taped there. I heard that cops hate pulling guys with paper plates (and my euro plate) over because it's a hassle and more work for them. Besides..it's a new car. So I am going to run this thing for awhile--at least until the permanent plates arrive.

To partially answer your other question, I think the euro plates do have an expiration. Mine has a date clearly on it, and I think it's only good for 30 days or so. So the euro plates are purely cosmetic at this point here in Cali...but still a unique and fun reminder of my ED experience.

if the cop only sees the car from behind (and can't see the paper tag in the frotnt), there's a good chance he might pull you over.

But I've never had an affinity to getting pulled over by The Man for ANY reason. If they want to be real jerks, they'll try to find something!

European Plates

My German plates were good for two months. I ran them in the USA until the temporary registration expired and it was necessary to install my new State plates.
