This might be a little early to ask but....I ordered an X5 3.0. It's due to arrive at the dealer this Friday. I ordered Premium Pkg, Comfort Seats, Cold Weather Pkg, and Running Boards. Did not order the Tech pkg as I've been reading about some of the initial problems with Nav and the display. I also did not order Sirius as I'm hoping XM will become available. Anyway my question: If XM is not an option, can Sirius be retrofitted? If so, will this require a dealer install or can it be done DIY? It's prewired in all 07 X5's and is located in an easy to access area in the cargo area.

Im sure you could fit the module yourself, but you would need the dealer for the programing.

You should have gotten the Sirius when ordering. Even though its 'only' $595, it saves a lot of cash down the road when you want to retrofit. All the wiring harnesses will need to be installed which means getting behind the dash and wiring back to the trunk under the floorboard. As mentioned before, the dealer is still gonna need to program it. I'm guessing it'll be a couple of grand.
Since you like XM better, you'll probably have to go aftermarket. |

The dealer, if they're nice, will do the programming for free if you install the receiver yourself. |
