Another SMG install ...

Hello,

yesterday I picked up my new X5 4.6is (Estoril Blue) and
the standard sport wheel only lasted for appr 1.5hrs (the
time it took me to drive home).
I installed Vince's outstanding Paddle Shift Kit in less than
an hour and the only time consuming task has been the
routing of the cable through the dashboard.
The instructions are clear and very easy to follow (great job).
I actually asked my dealer (Herb Chambers in Boston)
whether they would install the kit so I don't have to spend
time doing but their quote for the installation was
600$ ....

I am now a happy "Paddle Shifter" and can move on to
the other mods I am planning (Dianan Software, Air Intake,
Exhaust, NAV-TV, DVD Changer and upgrade of audio system)

If anybody is interested in the standard sport wheel
(without the airbag) I am happy to sell it for 100$ + shipping.
Please note the sport wheel on the 2003 4.6is has now black
spokes (at least if you ordered the dark wood).

Actually, my wife and I once argued about the correct spelling of "dammit". While "damn" is correct, the contraction of "damn it" into a one-word expression is, to my understanding, correctly spelled "dammit".

Unfortunately, it's not in the slang dictionary (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~wrader/slang/d.html#top).
