Window Tinting

I have a 03 745I Black/Black with the sports package.

I think the car needs a slight tint to clean up its look.

I tinted the windows on a Denali I had and I went with the same level as are on the back windows. I found the inside extremely dark after this was done.

What have been your experiences? Any recomendations? Pictures?

I went as dark as i can go on all the back windows. Which was 5% i believe. The front windows i went 8% to keep visibility. I still have great visibility. I was actually surprised it was still as good as it was. On previous cars visibility was decreased Far worse. Now the car is dark in the back with light still coming through the windshield and a little from the front windows. I find it perfect, but its also personal preference!! The tint really does work wonders on the car. It looks 100% better My car is white on factory chrome 19s. Hope this helps!!!

I have 35% on all five windows. IMO, it doesn't look good if the fronts and rears are not the same percentage. All windows must match for me.

oh yeh thats for sure. having diff % makes it look weird, try to do it all one %

sevenman, can u take a pic of the whole side of the car?? i have the same color 7 and an also thinking of tiniting the windows, are urs looks purrty bad @$$

Pugsl, my suggestion to you is to use either carbon or ceramic film. Those new materials provide much longer fading and won't interfere GPS signals. That means you can put the same type of film on all windows, not metalic on sides and dyed on back window. These new materials also has less distortion especially at night.

Yep, I have ceramic film on mine also.

Pinnacle Series

Ours is like a 20% or darker...it was on the car whenI got it. I'm going to have it redone though when I get a chance. Mabe just a lil lighter, but I don't want anyone seeing in the car. This tint is old and wearing out on us. It has some sort of metallic in it also.

Hi SevenMan,

How does your ceramic film work? Is it really lower view distortion, especially at night? I am thinking about to redo mine. The main reason is the current matellic film has distortion and glare at night.

I also heard the carbon film is teh latest and greatest. Anyone has it?

Limo all the way around. Hell I even thought about tinting the windshield. My tint says... Mind your damn business. I've been stopped twice, and not one police said anything about the tint.

I agree, with a cars like these you don't want anyone knowing who's N the car or how many people. Maybe that dark tint will stop some crazy from trying to run up on the car.

I went with Sevenman's advice and had ceramic film installed. I found a local shop that had a computer cut process. The job seems to be first class. They were a mature group with the owner claiming to have over 30 years experience.

The windows can not be rolled down for 10 days. The car needs to be brought back in a month to have them ensure all the edges have bonded correctly.

I will post pictures before and after tomorrow after I wash the car. We had a snow storm last night the has made it hard to keep the car clean.

Tint for looks is tacky IMO.

If tint is just for heat reduction in a car is okay.

Looks good pugsl. Are they the same percentage in front and back? Also, is your car lowered?
