(2001 740i) Can the TV work while the car is moving?? - Bimmerfest

Is there any way to override the automatic shutoff of the TV when the car is in motion??? Mainly because the car is usually in motion when I'm in it, and the TV is pretty much a waste if it doesn't play (video) when I'm going more than 5km/hr. idunno, call me crazy....

Maybe this is worth a try but it supposedly doesn't work with 2001 MY sourced from Europe.

You can also buy a small device which you insert between your original cable and the TV module which should work for all MY E38s (also other BMW with TV module), eg from EBay. Varying costs but cheapest is about €40 in Europe.

Thanx. I've tried that one, but it doesn't work on my '01. If I buy a device, how much work is it to install? I don't have experience installing radios or dismantling dashboards, so I'm not convinced I should be doing this.

Also, I've heard things like "tampering with that feature will make disable the DSC and safety features". Is there any truth to this?
