3. What are the advantages over OEM? Not "seat of your pants*," but tested differences, please.

*It has to be a lot better because I just dropped $5500 on the new brakes = "seat of your pants."

Good questions! Sorry for the delay in answering.

1) As far as I know, no! You'll need 20" wheels as far as I know. The stock brakes are 373mm and fill up the wheels nicely. So I don't think 405mm would fit under the wheel, much less the massive caliper which sticks out over an inch beyond the rotor.

3) Brembo doesn't release test results on any of their systems, despite the fact that they do extensive testing on each system. If you ask them for "tested specs" on their systems, they chuckle at you, and tell you that they are the best in the industry, and that race teams know this and don't require specs. I was a little taken aback when our Brembo rep told us this, but he came back and told me that they promise a 20-30% decrease in stopping distance and a 20-30% increase in cooling efficiency, with a 20-30% decrease in brake fade. That's really all the information made available to the public.

That is one thing I can not believe. The M5/M6 already stop impressively short from 60 or 70mph (<160 ft from 70mph). Even a 10% decrease puts it shorter than any production car that I know of. A 30% decrease = < 112ft from 70mph. I don't think even formula 1 can do that. Their incredible braking comes from the downforce assist at 200mph which isn't much of a factor < 70mph.

Maybe the Brembo 30% number comes from a BBK for a Toyota Echo for which if I recall, the factory stopping distance from 70mph was over 220 feet (C&D numbers). BTW, stopping 60 feet shorter, the M6 misses something that the Echo slams 35-40mph into!!!!!

Given most modern braking systems, the best way to decrease stopping distances is with better tires.

One thing I agree that a BBK and track pads are needed for is extended track sessions. Other than that, they are just for bling.

I agree. Utter I also agree that the tyres are a key after you've got optimum brakes (and even before then). The stopping distances in my Dodge Dually are truly awesome. But that is because of the huge tyre patch on the road.

I'd be getting them just for the I guess, since I never really drive fast enough to even NEED brakes!

Now to decide on a color.

Black? Nah... boring.
