Differences between 745iL (2003) & 760iL (2004)

Long story...trying to make it short...

A friend of mine drives an 03 745iL in Black and another guy we know just purchased a 760iL which he brought over to show us "bmw" guys. Now the car is definitely an 04 and one of the first differences we noticed was rear window shades but the rear armrest did not have the wood trim or any controls....hmmm

Ok..so we're like lets check out the engine...dude says he doesn't know how to pop the hood....who doesn't know that?:shifty Anyways...we make it happen and underneath the hood...the engine cover and all looks like its got the 8 cylinder in it not the 12....YIKES :devillook

So we continue with our inspection and check the badges...they all "seem" in order...gentleman starts the car and drives off...we both look at eacher other :confused ...we conclude the following:

1: New "760iL" owner...got ripped off...and paid 760 money for a 745 and doesn't know it...

2: New "760" owner is just trying to be a POSER...but why?

SO now begs the question....what are the absolute difference between the two cars...from my understanding there isn't TOO much that is an option on the 760iL..

Thanks!

Yeah, something's not right! The 760Li must have controls on the side of the rear center armrest (electronic rear-seat adjustment is standard). I'm also surprised that there was no wood. Not only comes the 760Li with the special 2 color wood, I thought that wood is always on the rear center armrest, no matter if V8 or V12...

Another difference: Full leather with stitching in the doors, next to the front cup-holders, directly below the side-windows and the entire dashboard.

Are you sure about that? I just checked the MY2006 brochure and according to that, the brakes are the same. Not sure if that was different in 03 or 04...

760Li has rear powered seats standard..and you are right in the US its an extra option for the rear entertainment system, and I guess his car doesnt have it

did you notice a difference in engine noise from both cars Its quite different when a V8 starts up as opposed to the mighty V12

V12 Engine
V12 Emblems on front fenders
Wider Chrome Kidney Grill in front
V12 illuminated doorsills (or BMW Individual in our case)
Alcantara Headliner with wood grab handles
Wood Trim on the back of front seats
Full Leather interior, with leather stitching on the dashboard, doors, centre console etc.
Rear Powered Seats
Rear Ent. System (Optional in US)
Rear Climate Control with Fridge (Optional)
I guess every other option thats optional on the 745 is standard on the 760

well my dealer told me that the winter tire package on the 760 is 19" wheels so im guessing thats because the brakes are to big to clear the 18" rims

Your dealer is wrong. The all-season tires/wheels (Styling 91), available as a no-cost option on the 760Li, are 18"x8.0

V12, as you would of been able to see.

Headliner should have a hand stitched look to it, also wood covered grab handles.

Door sills.

Sounds like the guy was posing.

And the brakes are the same size on both the cars.

Have owned a 2003 760Li and currently own a 2006 750Li.

Here is a picture of a 2004 745i motor, found on the web.
