A larger place would be definitely a great idea. But I suggest to promote Bimmerfest also to the general public. Let's say an add in the radio or televison. Posting of flyers around L.A. would also bring several extra people. I think Bimmerfest is still kind of enclosed just for the internet fans only. I believe there are many BMW enthusiasts "Non Forum Fanatics" that would perhaps like to come over and see all those nice cars.

In that case you would have all the 750's at one place. Lol.

LA is BMW mecca, why go anywhere else? LV, too hot, too far on I-15 to drive, lower participation, won't get enough show cars there.

Vegas would be sick but what about those of us who drive out the day of? vegas would become an issue of money on top of lack of off time and to add to those issues, where would we be able to host the acctuall show and for everyone who comes for the rally even though the strip would be sweet, it is at the same time very short. In all honesty, Earl Warren is Great, but maybe we should try maybe the pomona fair grounds, or you know I bet if you asked, we could take over Laguna Seca for a weekend and allow everyone some fun, but strictly supervised track time and have the show in the parking lot. just a thought.

Pomona will be absolutely disguctingly hot. I honestly think if we make it anymore south, well lose a lot of people from the PNW that come.

I've got an idea - Hey, Jon, where do you want to have it next year?
Of all the ideas, and there have been a lot of good ones, the Ventura County Fairgrounds (Seaside Park) is probably the best. On the ocean, not too far from Santa Barbara, old town Santa Buenaventura is close by, big facility and lots of exhibit halls. The only thing that concerns me is just how big the parking lots are, because that's the main attraction here, not the exhibit halls. The California Speedway is another alternative, but it could be hot as stink, and we could draw the "wrong crowds." As for Anaheim Stadium - it's so convenient I think I'll take the train. It'll be difficult to have it there during baseball season. Laguna Seca is a great idea. I've spent many a weekend in Carmel after steeplechase meets in Pebble Beach. (Horses have now been banned for about 6 years. We used to race around the outside of the Spyglass course.) Because proximity to the beach makes this event special, I vote for Ventura County Fairgrounds. However, I agree with the sentiment that if it could still be in Santa Barbara that's where it should be. No matter what we vote, as with Abraham Lincoln's cabinet, only 1 vote counts. |

Jon, wherever you decide to have it, charge $50 a head. It's worth that and a lot more. And that should keep twerps like lucky579 away.

Hello everyone I am stepping out of the E36 world for this post. Unfortunatly I have been unable to make it to a bimmerfest as of yet however I will be attending the next. I am an avid fan of Southern California and if Jon wants to keep the event there than I am all for it. However, I live in Las Vegas and have attended a couple of car shows held at the LV speedway. I was very impressed with them, lots of space for vendors, cars, and people. It is set up for events such as this and as mentioned there is the possibility of haveing many racing events.
As far as traffic goes I think that if it were to be a one day event then yes there would be some dangerous driving conditions however if it were to be extended to a weekend event then the traffic would be sperad out. Now the weather. I am not a native here so I have no tolerance for heat and I can say that except for the ocasional freak week the temps here stay in the 60's and 70's around this time. Also you can bet that there won't be any rain to ruin the event either, I 'll check the sportsbook though. So Jon, and anyone else, if you have any questions about Las Vegas feel free to ask and let me know if I can be of any help. send me a private message for quick response.

If we can get a venue with a bit more parking we may be able to park by interest. 3ers, 5ers, 6ers (old and new sharks), 7ers (well, a small section). Classics, special interest. Heavily modded. Special colours. (Yellow here and orange over there.)
Bimmerfest was very very good this year. But more parking, for more peple, and more exhibit halls for all those exhibitors who will want to come next year. Imagine the possibilities! |

What Jon should do is go national and hold meets everyother month. Here in May, Az or texas in July, somewhere on the east coast in september, etc.
Think of the people all over the Us.

Personally, I vote for a larger area, like the Ventura area or Laguna Seca.
I also vote for having cars park together by class (E36s together, E60s together, etc). Further, I propose $30/car, $10 per spectator fee. (A "carload" of 4 would cost $60). |
